dream kitchen

That kitchen I so painstakingly painted a few weekends ago? We came home the other night and noticed the paint bubbling on one of the walls. Paint bubbling is not a good thing -- it's usually a sign of water inside the wall.

So we peeled away the paint and, sure enough, the drywall underneath was damp. So then we had to do some emergency demolition to figure out how bad the problem really was. You can see what happened next.

A trip up to the roof revealed a couple holes along the edge where part of the roofline meets the side of the kitchen wall. I'm pretty sure this is where the water was getting in during the record-breaking rains we've been having these past couple months. And hopefully we've patched it well enough to get past the next series of storms. After that, it's up to a roofer -- and the limits of our bank account.
